"Now then, let us put on the most magnificent of shows!"
―Kamishiro Rui (Original)

"Now then, it's time to see what kind of a story is waiting for us."
―Kamishiro Rui (Brand New World)

Kamishiro Rui (神代 類) is a third-year student at Kamiyama High School. He's part of the musical show unit Wonderlands×Showtime.

Background[edit | edit source]

Rui and Kusanagi Nene are next-door neighbors and childhood friends. Rui was the one who recommended her to join the troupe. He manages stage performances. Rui is also very skilled in inventing things and creates robots to the shows. In middle school, he was often seen as an outcast and would visit the rooftop almost everyday, which lead to his friendship with Akiyama Mizuki.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Rui has yellow eyes and short, uneven purple hair with blue streaks. His right ear is pierced.

His show outfit consists of a ribbon, navy dress shirt, black vest, and long pink/purple coat with a neon yellow/green splatter pattern over the shoulders and the bottom edge of the coat. He wears white pants with black knee-high boots and short, white gloves. It's mentioned that Akiyama Mizuki, his middle school friend, made this outfit for him.

Brand New World[edit | edit source]

His outfit is made up of a white coat with the bottom half on the left being cut off. The bottom left is blue with purple/pink stripes inside instead, with a yellow outline, and has two yellow diamond shapes on the back. The left sleeve is black with a green diamond pattern on the edge and a yellow and purple stripe around, and the right is white with the same pattern on the edge. There is a thick purple stripe with a yellow outline running down the back on the right side. His pants are two colors, the left being black and the right is white. He wears a purple and yellow bow tie, and his coat is kept together with four gold buttons, arranged in a square. He wears black gloves with a cutout. He is also shown holding a white stuffed chicken wearing a purple and white striped tie.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Rui lives by his own set of rules, which causes people to consider him a weirdo. He's a literal genius as seen in the Revival my dream event. However, Rui often feels like an outcast for his inventions and his eccentric thinking. In WxS, Rui feels like he can be himself in the group and pushes himself to create better and better inventions.

He likes to tease his friends, and is always thinking up show ideas or inventing things.

Relationships[edit | edit source]

  • Tenma Tsukasa: Fellow group member. Rui thinks he's an actor worthy of a stage.
  • Otori Emu: Fellow group member. Rui thinks she's wonderfully bizarre.
  • Kusanagi Nene: Fellow group member. They're neighbors and childhood friends. Rui wishes she'd get over her stage fright. He was the one who built NeneRobo for Nene to help her with her stage fright.
  • Aoyagi Toya: Schoolmate and friend. The two first met during the An Ode for the Pure of Heart event. Although Toya had heard of Rui due to previous rumors, he grew to respect Rui as they worked together on the wedding show.
  • Akiyama Mizuki: Fellow social outcast and friend. They met on the rooftop in middle school. In part two of the side stories for Mizuki's 1* card, Rui asks Mizuki to help create costumes for him and a friend.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Rui was the one who built NeneRobo for Nene.
  • Rui's favorite food is soda candy, and his least favorite food is vegetables.
  • He dislikes vegetables due to the texture. He also dislikes any fruits with textures similar to vegetables, such as watermelon.
  • When eating taiyaki, he prefers to split it in half and eat it from the middle first. He does this to help the bean paste cool off.

Etymology[edit | edit source]

Kamishiro (神代): Kami (神) means "god, deity" and Shiro (代) means "era". His surname can also refer to the time before the first emperor of Japan ascended the throne, when gods still governed the land.

Rui (類) means "variety".
