Creating a table

To create the table above use this code:

To add more verses, use the {{Lyrics line}} template multiple times. In this case it would look like:

Usage

The {{Lyrics head}} template defines the columns used by the rest of the table. The string "japanese, romaji, english" means define columns "japanese" as the first column, "romaji" as the second column, and "english" as the third english. If "english" was moved to first position in the list, then it would be the first column, "japanese" would be the second, and so forth.

In addition to the order, the name itself becomes the parameter for the {{Lyrics head}} and {{Lyrics line}} templates. To define the header text for the "japanese" column, one would set the value of the "japanese" parameter to the header text. This applies to the lyrics line templates, since the same parameter name will define the cell contents for a specific column.

A table must be closed by {{Lyrics tail}} to apply the correct closing HTML tags.

Example 1

This example will only have one column to demonstrate the variable parameter name system.

The column "english lyrics" was defined as the sole column. Thus, both the lyrics head and lyrics line templates now look for parameters of the name "english lyrics" to generate the table.

This example will show that order of columns is decided solely by the "columns" parameter in lyrics head.

Despite the "japanese" parameter being listed first in the parameters of lyrics head and lyrics line, because english is defined in the "columns" parameter to be first, it will always be in the first column. This makes it easy to change the order of columns without having to touch lyrics line.
